## Description

**You shouldn’t need 4 plugins and a developer to add a business directory to your
site.**

Most WordPress users who want structured content like directories, job boards, or
listing pages end up installing a custom fields plugin, a forms plugin, a display
plugin, and then hiring someone to wire them all together. Even then, the moment
you create your fields, nothing shows up on your site without editing templates.

EntryKit replaces that entire stack with one plugin.

**Pick a starter kit. Toggle submissions on. It’s on your site.** That’s it. No
templates. No shortcode IDs. No custom field jargon. No CSS. Your content displays
automatically in clean, responsive layouts the moment you create it.

**Simple enough that your grandma could set up a business directory. Powerful enough
that a developer wouldn’t need to.**

#### What Can You Build?

EntryKit comes with **5 ready-made starter kits** so you can launch in minutes,
plus a **custom builder** to create anything you can think of:

🏢 **Business Directory** — Let visitors submit local businesses. Display them as
cards with contact info, hours, and categories. Perfect for chambers of commerce,
community sites, and niche directories.

💼 **Job Board** — Accept job postings with structured fields for company, location,
salary, and type. Display as a searchable list or card grid.

👥 **Staff / Team Directory** — Showcase your team with photos, bios, titles, and
contact details. One click to set up. No theme editing required.

📅 **Event Listings** — Collect community events with dates, times, locations, and
ticket links. Calendar date picker built in.

🏷️ **Coupon & Deal Site** — Let visitors submit deals with codes, discounts, and
expiration dates. Great for affiliate and deal sites.

🔧 **Build Your Own** — Need a recipe site? Pet adoption board? Tool lending library?
Course directory? Build any content type from scratch with 13 field types. Name
it, add fields, pick a layout, done.

#### How It Works

 1. Pick a starter kit (or create a custom content type from scratch)
 2. Toggle frontend submissions on if you want visitors to submit entries
 3. Drop a Gutenberg block on any page — entries display automatically

No templates to edit. No shortcode IDs to copy. No CSS to write.

#### Who Is EntryKit For?

 * **Small business owners** who want a directory on their site without hiring a
   developer
 * **Churches and nonprofits** managing staff profiles, event submissions, or resource
   lists
 * **Community organizers** collecting and displaying local business listings, volunteer
   opportunities, or events
 * **Bloggers** who want structured content like recipe cards, product specs, or
   review boxes alongside their posts
 * **Coupon and deal sites** accepting user-submitted deals with codes and expiration
   dates
 * **Freelancers and agencies** building client sites that the client can actually
   manage themselves
 * **Anyone who wants structured content** on their WordPress site without the complexity
of a developer-oriented custom fields plugin

#### The Grandma Test

We designed EntryKit with one rule: if someone who only knows how to write a blog
post and upload a photo can’t figure it out in 5 minutes, we failed.

No field groups. No meta keys. No template overrides. No “consult the documentation.”
You pick what you’re building, the plugin handles the rest. The moment you create
fields, they show up on your site. That’s the bar.

### External services

This plugin optionally connects to the following third-party services for spam protection
on frontend submission forms. No external service is used unless the site administrator
explicitly enables it in the EntryKit settings and provides their own API keys.

#### Google reCAPTCHA

When enabled, the Google reCAPTCHA JavaScript library is loaded on pages that display
an EntryKit submission form. When a visitor submits the form, a verification token
is sent from the visitor’s browser to Google, and the plugin sends that token along
with your secret key to Google’s siteverify API to confirm the submission is not
spam.

#### Cloudflare Turnstile

When enabled, the Cloudflare Turnstile JavaScript widget is loaded on pages that
display an EntryKit submission form. When a visitor submits the form, a verification
token is sent from the visitor’s browser to Cloudflare, and the plugin sends that
token along with your secret key to Cloudflare’s siteverify API to confirm the submission
is not spam.

## FAQ

### Do I need to know how to code?

No. Zero code required. You never edit a template, write PHP, touch CSS, or configure
shortcode attributes. Everything is point-and-click with a live preview.

### I tried other custom fields plugins and couldn’t figure them out. Is this different?

Very different. Most custom fields plugins are built for developers. EntryKit is
built for people who just want a directory or listing page on their site. You pick
a kit, toggle submissions on, and it works. No field groups, no meta keys, no template
editing.

### Can visitors submit entries from the frontend?

Yes. Toggle submissions on for any content type. You choose who can submit (anyone,
logged-in users, or admins only). Submissions go to a moderation queue where you
approve, reject, or edit before publishing.

### How do entries display on my site?

Automatically. Drop the “EntryKit Entries” block on any page. Pick your content
type. Pick a layout (cards, list, or table). Entries appear. Each entry gets its
own clickable detail page automatically. No templates to create.

### Can I control which fields show in the card preview vs the detail page?

Yes. Every field has three toggles: “Show on form,” “Show in preview,” and “Show
on detail page.” Full control, no code.

### Can I create my own content type that’s not in the starter kits?

Absolutely. The custom builder lets you create any content type. Name it, add fields
from 13 types, pick a layout, done. Recipe site, pet adoption board, tool lending
library, course directory — whatever you need.

### Does it work with my theme?

Yes. EntryKit uses lightweight, neutral CSS that inherits your theme’s typography
and works with any theme. Three card styles (shadow, bordered, minimal) let you
match your site’s look.

### Can I create entries from the dashboard too?

Yes. Each content type appears in the EntryKit menu. Click “Add New” and you get
the standard WordPress editor with all your custom fields. Admins can create entries
from the dashboard, the frontend, or both.

### Is it really free?

Yes. The free version includes everything you need: kits, custom builder, 13 field
types, 3 layouts, submissions, moderation, email notifications, Gutenberg blocks,
categories, author box, CSV export, and developer hooks.

### Can developers customize it?

Yes. 25+ actions and filters, custom CSS class support, and clean BEM markup. Developers
can restyle everything, add custom field types, modify submission data, and extend
layouts without editing plugin files.
