Drop modules onto the page, see the result straight away, and when you publish, 
Marfilo turns your design into finished HTML, one stylesheet and one small script

The canvas is not a preview or an approximation. Marfilo loads your actual page,
with your theme, your fonts and your spacing, and paints the design inside it. What

**Post list — design one card, the site fills in the rest.** Instead of picking 
a layout from a dropdown, you build a single card with whatever modules you like—
image, title, date, excerpt, a button — and the site repeats it for every post, 
page, product or custom post type, filling in each one’s own content. It reads custom
fields too, so a property listing, a recipe index or a staff directory is laid out
the same way as a blog roll. It works as a post grid, a custom post type grid and
a loop builder in one. The same idea drives blog templates, category archives and

**Mega menu — a menu that opens a real page.** Menu items can open a wide mega dropdown
panel holding several columns of links, headings and a promotional photo, all designed
with the usual modules on the usual canvas. It is what a shop with forty categories
needs and what a plain dropdown cannot do, and it is built here rather than in a
separate mega menu plugin. On mobile it folds into a hamburger menu.

**Before and after — two photos, one handle.** An image comparison slider: drag 
the divider across to compare a retouch, a renovation, a treatment or a paint job.
It works on touch, it needs no configuration beyond the two images, and it is the
module that sells a portfolio page on its own.

**360 viewer — a product the visitor spins.** A 360 product viewer for 360 product
rotation: feed it a sequence of photos taken around an object, usually 24 or 36,
and the visitor spins it by dragging. It can rotate on its own until somebody touches
it. For furniture, jewellery, machinery and anything a single photo undersells.

**Photo with hotspots — a picture that explains itself.** Image hotspots on any 
photo: mark any point of an image and attach a title, a description, a price and

A page built with Marfilo is compiled once, when you publish. Visitors receive static
HTML, a single stylesheet and one small script that wakes interactive modules such
as tabs, the accordion or the 360 viewer only where they appear. There is no layout
engine to download, no nested wrapper divs generated in the browser and no shortcode
parsing on each visit. That is what makes Marfilo a lightweight page builder: the
weight stays in the editor, not on your front end.

#### External services

Marfilo never checks for its own updates and calls nothing home on its own. Modules
that embed a video, a map or an external file contact whoever hosts them, and only
if you place such a module and fill in its address.

**Freemius (api.freemius.com, wp.freemius.com)**

Marfilo uses the Freemius SDK to ask you, once, whether you want to share basic 
information about your site and whether you want to hear about new releases. Nothing
is sent unless an administrator opts in, declining leaves every feature working 
exactly the same, and the question is not asked again.

If you opt in, this is sent on acceptance and when the plugin is later activated,
deactivated or uninstalled: the site address, the name and email address of the 
administrator who accepted, the WordPress, PHP and Marfilo versions, the site language,
and whether the site is a local install. Only for the permissions left ticked on
that screen, it also sends the list of active plugins and themes and basic diagnostic
data; each can be left off.

Marketing is a separate tick box, “Newsletter”, on the same screen: it is what allows
news, announcements and marketing about Marfilo and other products from its author,
and accepting the opt-in does not grant it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link,
and deactivating Marfilo stops anything being sent.

## Installation

 1. In your WordPress admin go to **Plugins  Add New**, search for **Marfilo** and 
    click **Install Now**, then **Activate**.
 2. Or upload the `marfilo` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/` and activate it on the**
    Plugins** screen.
 3. Open any page and click **Edit with Marfilo**, or start from one of the included
    page and section templates.
 4. Drag modules onto the canvas, adjust them for desktop, tablet and mobile, and press**
    Publish**.
 5. To build a header, footer, sidebar or mega menu, open **Marfilo  Where things show**
    and choose where each part is shown.

## FAQ

### Do I need to know how to code?

No. Everything is done by dragging modules and filling in fields. The Code and HTML
modules are there for people who want them, and you never have to open either.

### Does it work with my theme?

Yes. A page can be served inside your theme, keeping its header and footer, or take
over the whole screen and become the design itself. You choose per page.

### Will it slow my site down?

The opposite is the point. What gets published is plain HTML, one stylesheet and
one small script (about 125 KB, cached) that wakes the interactive modules. The 
editor never reaches the visitor, so there is no layout engine to download and run
before your page appears.

### Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Product pages, the cart and the checkout can be laid out with the same modules,
and three of them (Mini cart, Cart rows and Shop piece) are built specifically for
WooCommerce. All the others work with or without a shop.

### What happens to my pages if I remove the plugin?

Turn on the safety net and each design’s text, images and links are copied into 
the page’s own content, so your words stay in WordPress. The styling goes with the
plugin, but nothing is lost.

### Can I design my header and footer too?

Yes, and your sidebars and floating bars as well, with the same modules and the 
same canvas. Build one and reuse it across the site, or give a single page its own.

### Can I build a mega menu?

Yes. The Mega menu module turns any menu item into a wide multi-column panel designed
on the canvas, with links, headings, images and buttons. On mobile the menu collapses
into a hamburger menu.

### Can I make a landing page without my theme’s header and footer?

Yes. Choose the full-screen option for that page and the design becomes the whole
page: ideal for landing pages, squeeze pages, sales pages and coming soon pages.

### Is there a 360 product viewer or image hotspots?

Yes, both are included for free. The 360 viewer spins a sequence of photos by dragging,
and Photo with hotspots adds clickable points with a title, text, price and link
to any image.

### How do I add curved text or a typing effect?

Use the Text on a curve module for circular or curved text, and Text that types 
itself for a typewriter effect with rotating words.

### Does it have an image comparison slider?

Yes. The Before and after module compares two photos with a draggable handle and
works on touch screens.

### Can I show a table of contents or a reading progress bar?

Yes. Index of the page builds a linked table of contents from your headings, and

Yes, GPL like WordPress itself. The editor’s compiled JavaScript and stylesheet 
in `assets/dist/` are built from the readable source that ships inside the plugin

a squeeze page builder, and every one of those pieces is a module you drag, not

**Headers, footers and navigation.** A header builder and a footer builder in the
same tool: logo, navigation menu with a mobile hamburger menu, mega menu, search

   designs, and an SVG that is not a clean drawing is refused with a message.
 * Fix: the site importer no longer reports a file as failed when the server accepted
   it but printed a notice before its answer, and any problems are listed in a window
   grouped by reason instead of one long message.
